The Archives: Art Deco Festival Bloopers

In January, I had the privilege of attending this year's Miami Beach Art Deco Festival 2009! I met artist, designers and singers. And while filming our first video, I met with Mr. Blooper! Here is a small preview of my Film at the Art Deco Festival. And don't forget to "accentuate the positive"! Enjoy!

Behind The Scenes:

The first day of the Art Deco Festival was pretty dreary and cold. So being inside the Miami Beach City Hall historic building was nice and cozy. My director couldn't travel with me that day, so I had to ask a dear friend of mine to be our director for the first day of the festival. I haven't seen my friend in years! That day was special for us both.

Historic Building:

The Miami Beach City Hall building was constructed back in 1927. This historic landmark is a Mediterranean Revival design. Recently the building went through a multi-million dollar renovation, which restored the building to its original beauty. Here you can appreciate the embossed print over the golden brown wooden floors.

Photo Fashion Shoot:

The night before the festival, I had my hair done in pin curls and used a non-fragrant hair spray. The next morning, I wore my art deco style dark faux fur hat. I wore a dark gray wool jacket and I added a black thin shiny belt to accentuate my waist. Then I added my black faux fur scarf. For shoes, I wore my beige Mary Janes pumps, which by the way are very comfortable.

Special thanks to the Miami Design Preservation League, for giving us the privilege for filming inside the City Hall Historic building! To be a member of the MDPL or to find out the upcoming events visit: MDPL.ORG

The Archives: Street Artist

The other day I told my hubby that I was ready to start drawing again. For several years I have been creating my retro pop art the Bohemian Girl Collection. It's been a while since I got into my artistic frame of mind. Over the years I realized that I have a short attention span when it comes to my creativity. For instance several months ago, I was in the mood to paint the walls of my house. Sure enough after I completed most of that project I was ready to move on to something different.

Now that I am again into my drawing mood, I am going to start dusting off my drawing supplies and start putting it to good use again. Who knows I may one day be a famous artist working in the streets of Paris!

These street artist from Paris could be one day my coworkers...

So I don't think you need canvas to paint. What a great idea!

Perhaps I could sing a little, that way I get peoples attention. I am taking notes.

What if I lost my voice after I sang the whole week? I would have to move on to Plan B: Wear a stripe outfit, layer my face with white makeup, and smile.

Give these artist a round of applause for their creativity!

Have a fun weekend!

The Archives: My Traveling Luggage

Here is my circa 1940's vintage luggage that I own! I had bought my luggage at my favorite thrift store back in January before heading to the 2009 Art Deco Festival.

I have been wanting to get a vintage luggage that was sturdy, elegant, and 40's looking. I was thrilled that it was exactly the kind of luggage that I was looking for!

There are so many plusses about my vintage luggage. When I traveled to Miami Beach with my luggage, I was confident that she could handle toughness. Besides being nice and sturdy, she is in great mint condition and she came with a set of keys, which makes it so more secure for traveling. Can you believe that she only cost me $11, yes very affordable! And last but not least, when I started to pack my things, she was able to accommodate my clothes, hats, and purses perfectly!

I just love a great vintage find!

See you next week!

The Archives: Melting For an Ice Cream

I don't know about you, but it is hot here in Florida! Today I am totally melting for an ice cream. I am so happy that somebody came up with such a delicious idea! I just love the smooth feel of an ice cream going down my throat on a hot day like today.

And you know what I would add to that ice cream to make it perfect? A trip to Europe. Just imagine walking through Paris, Italy, Amsterdam, Spain, while having a frozen ice cream! That would be so dreamy...

Hers & His Neapolitan Ice cream . I have a husband that loves me so dearly. But when it comes to ice cream he want his own . And I wouldn't mine to also enjoy my own three scoops of Neapolitan ice cream. There are some things that are best enjoyed individually, yet together.

I think that this might be a pistachio ice cream. No matter how much ice cream you have eaten, the best part of an ice cream is that last little bit left. Good to the end!

So this is me having a chocolate cone ice cream. Not! I wish that that could be me! I love chocolate, and chocolate ice cream is my favorite, though I could just eat little bits of it. You remember that part from the Willy Wonka movie, when the little boy fell on that chocolate pool? I wish that I had a chocolate pool in my house. The only problem that I would have is to try to keep the flies away.

Your tour of the Tower of Pisa would be more memorable, when you enjoy it with a couple of scoops of ice cream. Warning: For your safety and that of other visitors. We recommend for you not to eat pasta, pizza and that gelato before you take our tour. If you have eaten one or all of these food mentioned, we prefer that you come back tomorrow on an empty stomach. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please, don't jump in that water! You will ruin that great hand carved vanilla ice cream. You will feel better when you do taste that ice cream. Life will be so much sweeter. So, if you don't mind, may I have your ice cream if you decide to take a dip in this chocolate pool? I promise that I will enjoy every bit of it.

I love a cool & tasty Summer!

The Archives: Le Paris!

What girl doesn't want to go to Paris? I don't think that I have ever heard any girl, in their right frame of mind not wanting to go to Paris. If any girl don't care to go to Paris, her head should be examined!

I love everything about Paris! The streets, the buildings, the fashion, the people, the café shops. Ooh la la the Eiffel Tower! What is there not to like? Paris is a romantic, head over heals, fall in love all over again, cloud nine kind of place.

So you might be thinking, "Well it seems like this girl have been to Paris!" I could answer your question by saying, NO! I have not been to Paris! I have been dreaming all of my life in going to this Paris that everyone talks about. And that everyone seem to have visit, except of course me!

So what does a girl to do if she wants to go to Paris, but can't go yet?
The girl just have to bring a little bit of Paris in her life. And I have done just that. I have brought a little bit of Paris in my life. As you have already noticed my new blog template has a Paris theme. Yes, I worked on this template so it will feel very Parisian. And I am loving it!

My new blog is not the only Paris thing there is about my love for Paris. In actuality I have a tiny room that I kind of made it my own little Paris retreat. I am still figuring out what name I can call my room. Eventhough my room is still a guest/ sewing/ reading/makeup/ drawing/ room. I don't want my room to have a generic name. My room is where I go to get away. A place where I could listen to my jazz, relax and just day dream. So the name that I should select should be special.

Did you know that Reese Witherspoon had named her French Bull Dog "Coco Chanel"? I love the name Coco Chanel! Also I was thinking of French Couture, Louis Vuitton, Le Toile, Vogue, Mademoiselle, Le Petite, Crème Brûlée, now that sounds delicious.

If anyone have a suggestion on a name for my room, please do so. Thanks! In the meantime I will be here in my room and day dreaming that one day I will be walking through the streets of Paris.

And to all those who are fortune enough to travel to Paris,

Bon Voyager!

P.S. I don't mind if you came back with a Eiffel Tower souvenir for me. Thanks! That is very thoughtful of you. Also, I will be posting some pictures of my room. Right now I have my mother-in-law visiting and she is staying in my room. And yes, if you were wondering we do get along very well indeed.
